Szalon introduces the "Revivals Line"
Hand-fabricated in Szalon’s Budapest workshop, the Revivals line is inspired by the works of Modernist masters, including Josef Hoffmann and Lajos Kozma. Judith Hoffman’s decision to go into production reflects the increasing difficulty of finding rare antiques. “The more I go back to Hungary, the harder it is to find good pieces. Not much survived the wars, the Revolution, Communism.” She is also mindful of issues of affordability for would-be collectors and design aficionados, as well as the need to buy in multiple for the contract industry. As an interior designer, Hoffman is also very attuned to contemporary tastes. The Revivals offer the best of traditional design updated for today’s interiors.
Hand-crafted in Szalon’s Budapest workshop by artisans trained in traditional methods, the Revivals line offers the highest quality workmanship. Hoffman’s craftspeople bring years of experience in conservation and restoration (including for museum clientele) to this new venture. The Revivals line employs the same Hungarian native woods, construction and finishing techniques as Szalon’s elegant antiques.
524T - The Vienna Table
The sculptural Vienna Table is inspired by the strong geometries of Josef Hoffmann’s Wiener Werkstätte designs. The linear, but sturdy, base is ebonized beech. This supports a round, silver-leaf on lacquer top, available with either a traditional red lacquer background or on a black lacquer ground for a more contemporary feel. Combining muscularity and grace, this occasional table is equally suitable for contemporary or period interiors, and may be customized to a buyer’s needs.
