Szalon (910 North La Cienega Boulevard, West Hollywood, 310-657-0089): Born in Budapest, Judith Hoffman began filling containers with Hungarian Art Deco and Modernist furniture on visits to her homeland three years ago. When she had more than enough, she opened her store, Szalon, this past summer. A contemporary setting, it has the ambience of the 1920’s, not just in décor, but mood, music, and lighting. Vignettes are styled with restored pieces such as Lajos Kozma recliners, a 1930s server in burled walnut veneer, and a 1920s Art Deco dining table in palisander wood.
